Fractional laser is modern technology that causes thousands of microscopic channels in the skin "fractions of laser" which alter the condition of the skin as well as stimulate collagen. The purpose of using microscopic channels allows for less downtime than the former alternative CO2 ablative laser. By using fractional laser, surrounding areas of skin remain untouched. The fractional laser scatters small amount of laser under the surface of the skin, thus effecting the entire area but with only 6% of the surface visible effected. This stimulates production of new collagen, plumping up the skin to smooth out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.

Profractional Laser Treatment "My Sciton Profractional Laser treatment began with an application of a topical anesthetic all over my face and neck.After about 30 minutes, both areas were numb and ready for the treatment. I was placed on a very comfortable reclining/medical table in one of the beautiful offices at OC Medical Aesthetics and was able to lie down throughout the entire procedure. Once the medical professional (MP) tested the laser intensity, and my protective eyewear was in place, the procedure began.I must note that the entire treatment only took about 30 minutes, if that, to complete.The MP conducted two passes of the laser on my face.The first pass was not painful at all and felt like someone was lightly snapping me with a rubber band.The second pass was not done all over my face but only on the areas of my face that had deeper wrinkles or on areas that showed pronounced sun damage.The second pass was definitely more painful than the first one but it wasn’t unbearable. After the procedure my face bled a bit in the areas where we did a second pass but it was nothing horrible.The rest of my face was a bit swollen and very red like I had a sunburn.My face also had the “dotted pattern” the laser creates when it goes over your face. After the procedure I kept ice on my face and neck for most of the night to help the swelling go down and it helped. The second day was the worst as far as how my face looked.However, the amazing thing is that the healing process is extremely quick and you can almost see your face get better right before your very eyes!Back to the second day, I’m not going to sugar coat it.I looked like I fell off my bike and skidded into the pavement with my face.Yes…it truly looked that bad.But again, by the end of that second day my face had improved dramatically!On day three, I was looking almost normal but I still had that “dot pattern” on my face and quite a bit of redness.On day five, I looked almost normal and on the seventh day, I looked like I had the skin of a baby!It was just so glowing, smooth and supple!Wow!The best part is…I’m not done healing and the improvements to my skin just keep coming.I can see that the treatment has definitely reduced fines lines, wrinkles and has improved my skin tone.I would absolutely recommend this procedure to anyone and everyone!"
