A dermal filler is a gel based product injected just beneath the skin to create volume. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance lips, fill in deep lines or give volume to areas of atrophy.
ARE DERMAL FILLERS SAFE?
At OC Medical Aesthetics we only offer dermal fillers with FDA approval and manufactured in the United States. Dermal fillers are the second most popular non-surgical treatment administered in the US today.
ARE THERE ANY NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS?
Normal, injection-related reactions, such as a mild irritation, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions will resolve within a few days.
WILL I EXPERIENCE PAIN DURING THE INJECTION?
We take measures to minimize discomfort during your treatment. A topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the injection site. You will also have the option to receive a short acting local anesthetic injected into your gums, similar to what you receive from your dentist. Additionally, the dermal filler may contain a small amount of lidocaine which decreases discomfort.
ARE DERMAL FILLERS PERMANENT?
There are some fillers that are permanent, however because of the long term risks involved, we do not administer this type at OC Medical Aesthetics. We offer Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane, all with an expected duration of six to twelve months.
